Migrating from Shopify Collabs
Move a Shopify Collabs creator roster onto Rekomi with a CSV export. Vanity links cannot carry over, but native Shopify discount codes keep crediting creators through Rekomi's coupon attribution.
This guide is for brands switching from Shopify Collabs to Rekomi. Shopify Collabs has no public API, so the import is CSV-only.
Most teams complete the cutover in a single afternoon. Migration is on Starter or higher; auto-notify is on Growth or higher.
Export from Shopify Collabs
- In Shopify Collabs, export your creator list to CSV.
- Open
/dashboard/settings/migrate, pick Shopify Collabs, choose your target Rekomi campaign, and upload the file. If your store runs the Rekomi app inside the Shopify admin, the same importer is available there without leaving Shopify, under Settings, Import.
Only email and name are guaranteed columns in the Shopify Collabs creators export; everything else, including any code column, is matched tolerantly. Verify your export's exact columns before running a large import.
What the CSV importer brings across
| Field | Source column | Notes |
|---|---|---|
closest match to email | Required. Lowercased + trimmed. Primary dedup key. | |
| Full name | closest match to name | |
| Discount code | closest match to a code column, when present | Re-scoped as a Rekomi coupon; not a link slug. |
The creators export is your accepted list, so imported creators land as Approved. If you hand-build a file with a status column, it is honored: accepted/active/approved land as Approved, applied/pending/invited (or any unrecognized value) as Pending, and rejected/declined as Rejected.
How attribution works
Shopify Collabs creator links are vanity paths on the merchant's own domain (for example store.com/creator-name), which resolve through a redirect to a discount-code URL. These vanity links cannot carry over to Rekomi: there is no query-param or token to preserve, so imported creators get a fresh Rekomi slug.
Discount codes are a different story. Shopify Collabs discount codes are native Shopify discounts, the same kind Rekomi's own Shopify app reads directly, so coupon-based attribution keeps crediting creators once their codes are re-scoped in Rekomi, independent of the dead vanity link.
Step-by-step cutover
1. Export and upload
Export your creator list from Shopify Collabs and upload it under /dashboard/settings/migrate. Verify the export's columns first if you have a large roster.
2. Re-scope discount codes
Re-scope each creator's Shopify discount code as a Rekomi coupon so it keeps crediting the right creator by discount attribution, since the vanity link itself will not resolve.
3. Check the import result
The import runs synchronously and shows a row-by-row result. Every job is listed under Import history with an Undo button.
4. Opt into auto-notify (Growth+ only)
Send imported creators a claim link so they can set up payouts on Rekomi. Send a sample to yourself first.
5. Swap the tracking snippet
Install Rekomi's tracking snippet and uninstall Shopify Collabs. Coupon-based attribution starts working as soon as codes are re-scoped; vanity links stop resolving once the app is removed.
What is NOT imported
| Data | Status | Workaround |
|---|---|---|
Vanity links (store.com/creator-name) | Cannot carry over; no preservable token | Re-scope the creator's discount code as a Rekomi coupon; share the new Rekomi link going forward. |
| Payout history | Not available; commissions were historically paid through the Shopify bill directly, not tracked per-creator by Collabs | There is no payout history to migrate; creators start fresh on Rekomi's payout rail. |
Common gotchas
No API. Shopify Collabs has no public API; the CSV export is the only path.
Verify columns before a large import. Only email and name are guaranteed in the creators export. If your account has extra columns (codes, tiers, socials), check they line up before running the full roster through.
Vanity links die. Creators sharing store.com/creator-name style links need the new Rekomi link or their re-scoped discount code; the old path stops working once Shopify Collabs is uninstalled.
Verifying the import landed clean
- Open
/dashboard/affiliatesand spot-check 3-5 rows against the Shopify Collabs source. - Confirm re-scoped discount codes are active under
/dashboard/coupons. - Place a test order with a re-scoped code and confirm the conversion attributes to the right creator.
- Send a sample notification to yourself before firing the bulk send.
Importing history and earnings
Shopify Collabs has no payout history to migrate, since commissions were historically paid through the Shopify bill directly rather than tracked and exported per creator. If you have hand-built records (or the Collabs sales report), the Step 2 upload accepts a generic-columns CSV: affiliate email, amount, commission, currency, date. Otherwise creators' Rekomi stats start from the cutover date forward.
Where to go next
- Coupons: re-scope discount codes as Rekomi coupons so attribution keeps working.
- Tracking and attribution: how Rekomi's coupon-based attribution works.
- Plans and trials: what each tier includes and how the 14-day free trial behaves.
