The 9 Best Shopify Affiliate Apps in 2026 (With the Fee Math)

The 9 Best Shopify Affiliate Apps in 2026 (With the Fee Math)

Search the Shopify App Store for an affiliate app and you’ll get a wall of listings that all look the same: 4.5+ stars, “unlimited affiliates,” a free plan or trial, and a screenshot of a dashboard. The real differences (and they’re big) live one layer down, in how each app charges you, who actually sends your affiliates their money, and what happens in January when the tax forms come due.

So this guide ranks the best Shopify affiliate apps on exactly those unsexy questions. We make Rekomi, and our own app just went live on the App Store, so it’s in the list – first, which is exactly the kind of ranking you should double-check; every other tool gets the same honest treatment, with pricing pulled from live pages this week.

One heads-up before we start: if you searched “Shopify affiliate program” hoping to earn money promoting Shopify itself, that’s a different thing entirely; Shopify runs that program at shopify.com. Everything below is for store owners who want affiliates promoting their own products.

The two-minute fee decoder

I love this part of the research, honestly: there are three completely different ways these apps charge, and the same store can pay wildly different amounts on each. Here’s how it works:

Model 1: a percentage of your affiliate sales. UpPromote, Refersion, Social Snowball, and ReferralCandy all take a cut of the revenue your affiliates generate, on top of the subscription. It sounds small (2% or 3%) but the base is huge.

Model 2: a percentage of payouts. Rekomi charges 3% of the commissions you actually pay affiliates. Same percentage, much smaller base.

Model 3: flat subscription, no percentage. GoAffPro, BixGrow, and Affiliatly charge a fixed monthly fee and take nothing off the top. The catch is that they also don’t move any money for you.

The math: say your affiliates drive $20,000/mo in sales and you pay a 15% commission ($3,000 in payouts). A 2%-of-sales fee is $400/mo. A 3%-of-payouts fee is $90/mo. A flat $49 plan is $49/mo, but payout day, fraud screening, and tax paperwork are yours to run by hand. So which model wins? It depends entirely on your volume and how much of the operations you want to own – which is why that one calculation, run on your own numbers, does most of the choosing for you.

How I picked these

Every app on this list was judged on the same six questions:

  • What does it really cost at a realistic sales volume, subscription plus any percentage fee?
  • How does tracking hold up against blocked cookies, typed-in coupon codes, and refunds?
  • Who sends the money: does the app run payouts, or does it hand you a CSV and wish you luck?
  • What happens at tax time: W-9/W-8 collection and 1099 prep, or a folder you build yourself?
  • What do real merchants say in reviews, especially the 1-star ones?
  • How native is it: does the app live inside the Shopify admin on Shopify’s own rails (billing, webhooks, real discount codes), or bounce you to a separate dashboard?

TL;DR: the top three. Rekomi runs the whole loop (tracking, fraud screening, automatic payouts in 165+ countries, tax paperwork) for $29/mo + 3% of payouts. UpPromote is the ecosystem’s volume leader with 3,600+ reviews and a genuinely useful free plan. GoAffPro gives you unlimited tracking volume for free if you’re happy doing the money work yourself.

The 9 best Shopify affiliate apps, one at a time

1. Rekomi

Rekomi homepage, our pick among the best Shopify affiliate apps

Rekomi is the app we build, and it went live on the Shopify App Store in August 2026. It exists because most affiliate apps stop at tracking, and everything after the sale (screening fraud, moving money to 165+ countries, collecting tax forms) stays your job. Rekomi’s whole pitch is that the after-the-sale work is the product.

Best for: stores that want the program to actually run itself, payouts and paperwork included.

Pricing: $29, $49, or $99/mo flat with unlimited affiliates on every plan, plus 3% of the payouts you actually make (2.5% on Enterprise). 14-day free trial, billed through Shopify.

Where it shines:

  • Install is one click, and that’s the whole technical setup! It’s a native Shopify app end to end: the entire dashboard runs embedded inside your Shopify admin (campaigns, affiliates, payouts, even the migration importer), and the subscription bills through Shopify like the rest of your apps. The app sets up its own web pixel and also reads the buyer journey Shopify records on each order, so link attribution keeps working even when the buyer blocks trackers.
  • Affiliates get personal discount codes minted as real Shopify codes (scopeable to specific products with Shopify’s own picker), which is how the Instagram and TikTok sales that never click a link still get credited.
  • Payouts run automatically over Stripe Express, bank deposits, and PayPal in 165+ countries, with W-9s and W-8s collected during onboarding and 1099-NECs handled through Stripe Express at year end (Rekomi is the payer of record for US affiliates, and you get a candidate CSV for your records).
  • Every click and conversion is fraud-scored on every plan (device fingerprinting, proxy/VPN/bot detection), and suspicious events are held for review before money moves.
  • Moving from another tool? There’s a dedicated importer for 21 platforms, including UpPromote, GoAffPro, and Refersion.

Keep in mind: the App Store listing is brand new, so you won’t find years of Shopify reviews yet; the platform itself has been running programs on Stripe, Paddle, and nine other billing stacks for longer. And if you need multi-level marketing, we deliberately don’t do it: sub-affiliate recruiting stops at one level.

Bottom line: the strongest pick on this list if payouts, fraud, and tax season are the parts you want off your plate, at a fee that scales with what you pay out rather than what you sell.

2. UpPromote

UpPromote affiliate marketing homepage

UpPromote is the biggest name in Shopify affiliate marketing: 4.9 stars across 3,633 reviews, a Built for Shopify badge, and a deep feature set. If social proof is what helps you sleep, nothing else here comes close.

Best for: merchants who want the most battle-tested Shopify-native option and don’t mind the performance fee.

Pricing: a free plan (one program, 0% fee, tight monthly limits), then Growth at $29.99/mo + 2% of referral sales, Professional at $89.99/mo + 1.5%, and Enterprise at $199.99/mo + 1%.

Where it shines:

  • Deep Shopify integration with coupon tracking, marketplace listing, customer referrals, and multi-level marketing on higher tiers.
  • The free plan has a 0% performance fee, which makes it a real (if limited) starting point rather than bait.
  • The affiliate marketplace can bring you affiliates who already use UpPromote elsewhere.

Keep in mind: the performance fee applies to your affiliate-driven sales and it’s uncapped, so success gets progressively more expensive; at $50,000/mo in affiliate sales you’re paying $750+ on top of the subscription. Auto-payouts run through your own PayPal Business account (Professional plan and up), and tax support is W-9/1099 for US affiliates only.

Bottom line: a deserved favorite with one structural quirk: the better your affiliates do, the more of their sales UpPromote keeps. Run the fee decoder math before committing; the full Rekomi vs UpPromote comparison walks it at three volumes.

3. GoAffPro

GoAffPro affiliate marketing homepage

GoAffPro is the free workhorse of the category – unlimited affiliates, unlimited sales, and unlimited revenue tracking at $0, which no other serious tool matches. Around 885 reviews at 4.6 stars say plenty of merchants ride that free plan for years.

Best for: hobby programs and bootstrapped stores that want real tracking for free and will do the money work themselves.

Pricing: free forever with feature gates; Premium at $49/mo adds the branded portal, tax plugin, payout scheduler, and integrations; Business starts at $99/mo and is where the fraud management tools live.

Where it shines:

  • The free tier’s limits are features, not volume: your tracking never hits a cap.
  • Multi-level marketing, membership fees, and custom compensation plans exist for programs that want them.
  • Works beyond Shopify too (Wix, BigCommerce, WooCommerce), a rarity in this list.

Keep in mind: payouts mean pasting your own PayPal API credentials and funding transfers from your own balance, and fraud tooling is gated to the $99+ tier; recent 1-star reviews describe coupon-scraping sites collecting commissions on organic sales, which is exactly the failure mode you can’t screen for on the free plan. No W-8 handling for international affiliates.

Bottom line: unbeatable at $0 for a program you’re happy to babysit. Once real money moves, the missing fraud screening and manual payday are the cost; the Rekomi vs GoAffPro breakdown prices that out honestly.

Quick observation before the next three: notice how the list so far splits cleanly into “charges a percentage” and “leaves the money work to you.” That’s not a coincidence; it’s the whole industry’s trade-off, and each of the next apps picks a different spot on that same trade-off.

4. Social Snowball

Social Snowball homepage

Social Snowball (now part of Dotdigital) flips the recruiting model on its head: every customer becomes an affiliate automatically at checkout, and its Safelinks feature kills the coupon-leak problem that plagues DTC stores. It’s a genuinely clever system for word-of-mouth at scale.

Best for: DTC brands with real budget that want every customer enrolled and gift-card rewards handled.

Pricing: Snow Day starts at $249/mo + 3% of affiliate-generated revenue; the Blizzard tier (starts at $899/mo) removes the percentage. No free tier or published trial.

Where it shines:

  • Post-purchase auto-enroll turns your customer base into your affiliate base with zero recruiting effort.
  • Safelinks stops scraped/leaked discount codes from bleeding margin, a real innovation.
  • 700+ payout redemption options through Tremendous, from PayPal to gift cards.

Keep in mind: the fee is 3% of affiliate revenue (not payouts), so $100,000/mo in affiliate-driven sales costs $3,249/mo before you’ve paid a single commission. It’s Shopify/DTC only (no SaaS, no recurring billing), payouts are merchant-funded with reviewer-reported waits of 2-6 weeks, and some low-star reviews describe organic sales tagged as affiliate referrals.

Bottom line: the right tool for a specific, well-funded DTC playbook. For everyone else the entry price and fee base do the deciding; the Rekomi vs Social Snowball math shows the gap at three store sizes.

5. ReferralCandy

ReferralCandy homepage

ReferralCandy has been doing customer referrals on Shopify since 2010, and its 4.9 stars across 1,410 reviews reflect a product that does its core job well: turning happy customers into a referral channel with rewards flowing automatically.

Best for: stores that want customer-to-customer referrals first and affiliate marketing second.

Pricing: Basic at $39/mo + a 10.5% success fee on referral revenue, stepping down to $79/mo + 3.5%, $249/mo + 1.5%, and $799/mo + 0.25%. The fee only applies to each referred customer’s first three orders. 7-day trial.

Where it shines:

  • Truly automatic: rewards (cash or coupons) go out without you touching payout day, and ReferralCandy sends the cash itself!
  • The first-three-orders fee cap is a fair wrinkle: long-term repeat customers stop costing you.
  • Referral widgets and post-purchase flows are polished from 15 years of iteration.

Keep in mind: 10.5% on the entry tier is the steepest percentage in this entire list ($10,000/mo in referred sales on Basic is over $1,000/mo in fees), cash payouts ride PayPal in USD only, and there’s no tax-form handling at all. Affiliate-program depth (tiers, sub-affiliates, per-product rates) is thinner than the dedicated tools.

Bottom line: a referral program in the strict sense, and a good one. If “affiliate program” is what you actually need, the fee ladder and missing tax layer point elsewhere.

6. Refersion

Refersion homepage

Refersion is the premium veteran, tracking Shopify programs since 2013 and now owned by Pantastic. It’s the only tool here besides Rekomi with a real answer on international tax paperwork, through its Trolley integration.

Best for: established brands that want a mature platform and are comfortable at premium pricing.

Pricing: Launch at $39/mo ($29 billed annually) + 3% of affiliate-driven sales; Growth at $199/mo + 2%; custom Scale tier above $1M GMV. 14-day trial.

Where it shines:

  • W-9 and W-8 collection with 1099/1042-S filing support via Trolley, which most of this list simply doesn’t have.
  • A marketplace of affiliates to recruit from, plus 30+ marketing integrations on Growth.
  • Unlimited affiliates and conversions on every tier (the old conversion caps are gone).

Keep in mind: the subscription-plus-percentage stack adds up fast (at $30,000/mo in affiliate sales, Launch costs more than Growth), recent 1-star reviews cite pricing and annual-contract cancellation friction, and the Shopify listing itself notes charges may be billed by Refersion outside your Shopify invoice. Trolley payouts require you to prefund an account.

Bottom line: real depth and real tax handling at a price that assumes you’re big enough to absorb it. The Rekomi vs Refersion comparison prices both stacks side by side.

Second mid-list note, because it surprised me while pulling this data: two of the apps above changed their pricing model in the last two years (Refersion retired conversion caps for a percentage fee; ReferralCandy rebuilt its ladder). Fee models in this category are not set-and-forget; whatever you pick, recheck the pricing page yearly.

7. Shopify Collabs

Shopify Collabs listing on the Shopify App Store

Shopify Collabs is Shopify’s own free creator tool, and for a subset of stores it’s all they need: discount-code and link attribution, a creator application page, and automatic commission payments that ride your Shopify bill.

Best for: small stores that want a zero-subscription starting point inside the platform they already use.

Pricing: free to install; every automatic commission payment carries a 2.9% processing fee on the commission amount, on your Shopify bill.

Where it shines:

  • Nothing new to learn or pay for: it’s first-party Shopify, right in the admin.
  • Auto-payments through Hyperwallet mean you’re not cutting PayPal checks by hand.
  • The 2.9% fee base is commissions (like Rekomi’s model), not sales.

Keep in mind: the creator network stopped accepting new creator signups as of August 2026, subscription products only pay commission on the first order (or a fixed count), payouts run twice monthly with a $25 minimum, 1099s are entirely your job, and merchant reviews (4.1 stars, with a fifth of them 1-star) recur on coupon-farming sites collecting commissions on organic sales.

Bottom line: a fine free floor with hard ceilings on reporting, recurring products, and fraud control. Most stores on this page will outgrow it; plenty of small ones never need to.

8. BixGrow

BixGrow affiliate app homepage

BixGrow is the budget pick: a workable free plan, paid tiers at $14.99 and $24.99/mo with no percentage fee anywhere, and a 4.9 rating across 1,244 reviews that says the core tracking does its job.

Best for: price-sensitive stores that want links and coupons tracked for pocket change.

Pricing: free up to 50 referral orders/mo and 30 affiliates; Scale at $14.99/mo lifts the volume caps; Pro at $24.99/mo adds MLM, PayPal automation, and store credit payouts.

Where it shines:

  • The cheapest unlimited-volume paid plan in the category, full stop.
  • Coupon tracking, auto-generated codes, and email automation even on free.
  • Store-credit payouts are a neat retention play for the right store.

Keep in mind: there’s no API or webhooks at all, payouts are yours to execute (PayPal automation is Pro-only, through your own account), tax handling stops at W-9 collection, and the company publishes no legal entity or address anywhere; one 2026 review flags the missing data-processing agreement for GDPR. You’re trusting your affiliate data to an anonymous operator.

Bottom line: honest value at the price, with the structural limits the price implies. Fine for testing whether affiliate marketing works for your store; think harder before making it the system of record.

9. Affiliatly

Affiliatly homepage

Affiliatly is the small, simple elder of the list: affiliate-count-gated plans from $16/mo, a free tier for your first 50 tracked orders, and a 4.6 rating from a modest 60 reviews. It still carries the Built for Shopify badge.

Best for: tiny programs with a handful of affiliates and simple needs.

Pricing: free for 50 tracked orders, then $16/mo (50 affiliates) stepping up to $129/mo for unlimited. 14-day trial.

Where it shines:

  • The $16 entry is the lowest paid price for a dedicated affiliate app here.
  • Covers the basics competently: links, coupon codes, per-affiliate rates.

Keep in mind: reviewers on other platforms describe years without meaningful feature development, payday is manual (CSV MassPay uploads to your own PayPal, or gift-card codes), there’s no tax handling of any kind, and the default tracking cookie is 7 days (configurable, but check it before your first campaign).

Bottom line: a serviceable minimum for a small program that stays small. The Rekomi vs Affiliatly comparison covers what changes when it doesn’t stay small.

How to choose

Picking affiliate software for Shopify really comes down to four scenarios:

You’re testing whether affiliates work for you at all. Start free: GoAffPro for unlimited volume, Collabs for zero setup, or BixGrow for coupons-first. Expect to do payday by hand, and revisit the moment real money moves.

Your affiliate channel is a real revenue line. Price the percentage-of-sales apps against your actual volume with the decoder math above, then compare against percentage-of-payouts. This is where Rekomi usually wins on price and always wins on the payout/tax layer; it’s the gap the whole product was built around.

You’re a DTC brand doing influencer seeding at scale. Social Snowball’s auto-enroll plus Safelinks is a genuinely different (and effective) playbook if the $249+ entry fits your budget.

You need MLM or deep downlines. Rekomi won’t do it on purpose. UpPromote, GoAffPro, and BixGrow all will; pick by budget.

Quick answers

Does Shopify have a built-in affiliate program feature? Yes and no. Shopify Collabs is a free first-party creator tool with basic link and code tracking, but there’s no native affiliate system in the Shopify admin itself, which is why this app category exists. (And the “Shopify Affiliate Program” you may have Googled is Shopify paying people to refer new merchants, a different thing entirely.)

How does Shopify track affiliate referrals? The store installs an affiliate app for Shopify that attributes orders to affiliates, through some mix of tracked links (stored in a cookie or in Shopify’s own recorded buyer journey) and personal discount codes. Code-based attribution matters more than most merchants expect: social audiences type codes, they don’t click links.

Can you do affiliate marketing on Shopify without an app? Technically yes, with manually created discount codes and a spreadsheet. In practice attribution disputes, refund adjustments, and payout tracking eat the savings within a month or two. Every serious program uses an app.

What do Shopify affiliate apps actually cost? Between $0 and $249+/mo in subscription, plus the fee model that matters more – a percentage of affiliate sales (UpPromote, Refersion, Social Snowball, ReferralCandy), a percentage of payouts (Rekomi, and Collabs’ 2.9% works this way too), or nothing (GoAffPro, BixGrow, Affiliatly). Run your own volume through each; the ranking changes with your numbers.

Who handles the tax forms? Mostly you. Of the nine, only Rekomi (W-9/W-8 collection plus a 1099-NEC prep worksheet) and Refersion (via Trolley) have a real answer; GoAffPro includes a W-9 plugin on its Premium tier, Collabs makes W-9 collection optional, and the rest leave it entirely to your accountant.

Install one, run one test order

Take last month’s affiliate-driven sales (or your target for month three) and run it through the fee decoder above: subscription plus percentage, on each app’s actual base. That’s 10 minutes with a calculator, and it turns this whole page into one number per app.

If the payout-and-paperwork layer is what you’re really buying, start a free 14-day Rekomi trial from the Shopify App Store; the install takes one click, and you’ll know by the weekend whether the fit is right.
