Run your affiliate program on top of Mailchimp.
Rekomi plugs into the Mailchimp audience your nurture sequences already fire from. Approved affiliates land as tagged subscribers, no second CRM, no duplicate contacts, no second compliance posture.
From paste-API-key to first paid affiliate in 10 minutes.
Paste your Mailchimp API key into Rekomi. Rekomi runs a test call to verify the key, then pulls your list/audience picker live from Mailchimp so you pick the right destination.
Affiliates apply via your public landing page or your bulk invite. Approve them manually, auto-approve on a campaign, or import an existing affiliate CSV from Rewardful.
Approved affiliates land in your Mailchimp list as tagged subscribers within seconds. Rekomi handles idempotency, retries, and per-campaign overrides; you handle the nurture sequence.
The exact Mailchimp fields Rekomi writes.
No surprise fields, no overwrites of contact data you already have. Empty values are omitted so existing nurture data is preserved.
email_address, the affiliate's emailmerge_fields.FNAMEandmerge_fields.LNAME, split from full namestatus_if_new: "subscribed", only applied when the contact is new; existing contacts keep their current status- Tags, Rekomi adds the
Rekomi affiliatesystem tag plus any account defaults plus any campaign-level extras - Tags are applied via Mailchimp's dedicated
/lists/{list}/members/{hash}/tagsendpoint after the contact is created or updated
What Mailchimp customers actually do with Rekomi.
Auto-welcome via Customer Journey Builder
Build a Customer Journey in Mailchimp triggered by the `Rekomi affiliate` tag. Send a welcome email, wait 3 days, send a quick-start guide, wait 7 days, surface a tracking-link tutorial. Rekomi tags the new affiliate the moment they're approved, so the journey fires within seconds.
Promote your highest-LTV customers into the program
Build a Mailchimp segment of customers who've been subscribed 12+ months. Export the segment, paste the CSV into Rekomi's bulk-invite flow, send each one a brand-customized invite. Approved invitees flow back into Mailchimp with the `Rekomi affiliate` tag, same audience, new role.
Per-campaign audience routing
Running two campaigns on different products? Set a per-campaign Mailchimp override so each campaign's approved affiliates land in a dedicated audience. Their nurture sequence stays product-specific without you forking your CRM.
Rekomi handles Mailchimp's edge cases so you don't have to.
Every CRM API has quirks. Rekomi's integration code was built and audited against the live Mailchimpdocs, these are the ones you'd otherwise hit yourself.
Mailchimp keys every subscriber on `MD5(lower(email))`. Rekomi re-syncing the same affiliate is a no-op, the contact gets updated in place, not duplicated. Re-fire a failed sync 50 times and you still have one contact.
Mailchimp's API key looks like `abcdef…us5` where `us5` is your data center. Rekomi extracts the suffix automatically and routes API calls to the right data center. Paste the full key and forget about it.
If the affiliate is already in your audience (manual import, prior sync, signup form), Mailchimp returns 400 "Member Exists". Rekomi treats this as a successful sync, the goal was the contact being present, not Mailchimp creating a new row.
Mailchimp throttles at 10 concurrent connections per account. Rekomi paces its worker at one subscribe per second with jitter, so 429s are rare. When they happen, retries respect Mailchimp's `Retry-After` header.
Built for SMBs whose audience already lives in Mailchimp, typically a Standard or Essentials plan with 5k-50k contacts and a couple of Customer Journeys running. If you're already paying Mailchimp $30-300/month for your customer list, Rekomi is the affiliate-program layer that pays you back the difference.
Common Mailchimp questions.
Does Mailchimp have an affiliate program?
Mailchimp runs its own partner program (Andco, plus the Integration Partner Program) that pays you for referring Mailchimp customers. Rekomi is the other side: it lets you run YOUR affiliate program ON TOP of Mailchimp. Your affiliates land as subscribers in your audience, with the `Rekomi affiliate` tag, ready for any nurture sequence you've already built.
Can I use Mailchimp for affiliate marketing?
Yes, Rekomi makes Mailchimp the email home for your affiliate cohort while handling the parts Mailchimp doesn't: link generation, click and conversion tracking, commission calculation, Stripe Connect payouts, refund reversal, fraud flagging. Mailchimp delivers the email; Rekomi runs the affiliate engine. Affiliate links are sent from your domain via Mailchimp; no Mailchimp ToS conflict.
Does Mailchimp allow affiliate links in emails?
Yes for your own affiliate program (you're the merchant, you control the link). Mailchimp's restrictions apply to people promoting OTHER companies' affiliate offers through Mailchimp, not to you running your own. Your campaign's tracking links go in your campaign emails the same way any product link does.
Which Mailchimp plan do I need?
Any paid Mailchimp plan with API access works, Essentials, Standard, or Premium. The Free plan does not include API access, so you'd need to upgrade to at least Essentials ($13/mo). Rekomi only writes contact records and tags; it does not need send permissions or template access.
What if I'm already in Mailchimp's Sunset audience?
Mailchimp's Sunset Plan affects new contacts after the plan limit is hit. Rekomi obeys that limit, it stops adding contacts once your plan is full, and surfaces a `quota_reached` Failed status on the affected affiliate's sync card. You'll see exactly which affiliates didn't land in Mailchimp so you can decide whether to upgrade or trim.
