Common Stripe questions.
Does Stripe have its own affiliate program?
Not for your product. Stripe runs partner programs for people who promote Stripe itself, but it has no built-in feature for paying affiliates who refer customers to your business. That is what Rekomi is: affiliate program software that runs on Stripe, using Stripe's own webhooks for tracking, Stripe promotion codes for coupon attribution, and Stripe Connect Express for payouts.
Do I have to set up Stripe webhooks myself?
No. You link your account with one OAuth consent through Stripe Connect, and Stripe delivers your sale and refund events to Rekomi directly. There is no endpoint to host, no signing secret to copy, and no webhook configuration screen to maintain.
How does Rekomi know which affiliate referred a sale?
The head script captures the click in a first-party cookie, and you stamp the referral onto checkout: client_reference_id on server-created Checkout Sessions (with a subscription metadata mirror as backup), automatic stamping for Payment Links, or a per-affiliate promotion code the buyer types in. Whichever field arrives on the Stripe event, Rekomi matches it to the affiliate.
What happens when a customer refunds or cancels?
Stripe fires charge.refunded and customer.subscription.deleted; Rekomi reverses the commission and updates the affiliate's pending balance the same day, in the same audit trail as the original conversion. You never pay commission on money you gave back.
Can affiliates have their own Stripe coupon codes?
Yes (Growth plan and above). Rekomi mints a unique Stripe promotion code per affiliate from the campaign page. When a buyer checks out with the code, Rekomi reads discounts[].promotion_code off the webhook and credits the affiliate, even if no tracked link was ever clicked. This pairs especially well with Payment Links.
Can I manage the program without leaving Stripe?
Yes. The Rekomi app on the Stripe App Marketplace shows referred customers, lets you attribute or re-attribute sales, approve, adjust, void, or claw back commissions, and run payouts from inside the Stripe Dashboard. It is a management surface on the same native tracking, not a separate processor.
