Products and per-product rates

Override the campaign rate for specific products, or assign a product to a partner who is paid on every sale of it, on rails that report line items.

Per-product commission rates let you set a different commission for individual products, overriding the campaign's default rate for just those items. Useful when some products carry thinner margins than others and you want affiliates paid accordingly.

The product catalog

Product rates live on the campaign's Products tab, together with which products affiliates can pick from: one surface answers "which products, shown to whom, paying what". Shopify brands see their store synced live, with a visibility switch per product controlling what appears in the affiliate picker, and a rate box for setting an override. On other billing providers you build the catalog by hand: a name, the page URL on your site, an optional photo, and an optional rate. The same editor is also available inside the Shopify embedded admin's Products panel, and Stripe brands can edit rates inside the Stripe App.

  • Rates are percentage-only, from 0 to 100. A 0% rate is how you stop a product from paying commission entirely.
  • A campaign can hold up to 200 product rates.
  • Saving replaces the whole set: whatever list you save becomes the complete list of product rates for that campaign.

Which rails this applies to

Product rates apply on the rails that report line items or the purchased product: Shopify orders, Stripe invoices, Paddle transactions, and Chargebee invoices (full line items), the purchased product on Gumroad sales, Lemon Squeezy orders, Polar orders, Creem one-time checkouts, Dodo Payments single-item carts, Mollie payments that carry order lines, and Braintree subscription plans. Not covered: Recurly, multi-item Dodo carts, Mollie payments sent without order lines, Lemon Squeezy renewals, and S2S postbacks or imported conversions, all of which use the campaign's normal rate; there is no line-item detail to match a product rate against.

How the math works

For each line item in a qualifying order or invoice:

  • If the line matches a rate you set, that line earns your rate. On Stripe, a rate on the specific price (price_...) wins over a rate on its parent product (prod_...), so you can pay a product's monthly and annual prices differently.
  • If nothing matches, that line earns the affiliate's normal resolved rate: whichever applies first among a per-affiliate override, a partner group rate, a tier rate, or the campaign default.

Each line is rounded independently, away from zero. Product rates only apply when the resolved base rate is a percentage; they do not apply on top of a flat-fee rate.

Assigned partners

The Assigned partners card, below the product links on the Products tab, assigns a product to one partner. The same card is on the Products page inside the Shopify, Wix and BigCommerce apps and in the WordPress plugin, so you can manage it from wherever you run Rekomi. Every sale of that product is paid to that partner, with no affiliate link, coupon code or click involved. A campaign-wide default ("Everything else in this campaign is paid to") covers a storefront where one client owns every product.

It suits a business that runs made-to-order storefronts for clients as the merchant of record and shares revenue with each one. Each client joins the campaign (or is invited) and is approved, their products are assigned to them, and Rekomi tracks their share and pays it on the normal payout schedule, with tax forms collected. Partners are picked from the campaign's approved affiliates, so a client is approved first.

How it decides who is paid

  • A price id assignment beats a product id assignment, which beats the campaign-wide default. Assignments use the same ids as product rates (see Product ids).
  • An assigned product always credits its partner, even when the buyer came through another affiliate's link or used a coupon: this is a revenue share on the product, not marketing attribution. Unassigned products in the same order follow normal attribution (link, coupon, customer history), so one order can produce one sale per partner.
  • Shipping and tax are never part of a partner's basis. When line amounts exceed the paid total (a discount), each partner's basis is scaled down in proportion.
  • Each partner's sale is priced by the usual ladder: a per-product rate on that product if set, else the partner's override, group or tier rate, else the campaign default. Paying a client 100% of their products is a product rate of 100 on them, or a partner override of 100%.

Assignments work on every rail listed above for product rates. On Shopify an assigned product is credited the moment the order is paid, never waiting on Shopify's journey data. A campaign holds up to 200 assignments, and saving replaces the whole set.

Refunds

A refund on a split order is shared across the partners' sales in proportion to each sale's amount, and each sale then claws back its own commission as usual.

Product ids

You can identify a product two ways:

  • Shopify: the numeric Shopify product id. You never type it: the dashboard has a built-in product search, and the Rekomi app inside your Shopify admin opens Shopify's own product picker.
  • Stripe: the Stripe Product id (prod_...) or a Price id (price_...). Use a price id when different prices of the same product should pay different rates; a price rate beats its product's rate, which beats the campaign default.
  • Paddle: the Paddle Product id (pro_...) or a Price id (pri_...); as on Stripe, a price rate beats its product's rate.
  • Chargebee: the plan, addon, or item price id that appears as the invoice line's entity id.
  • Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Creem, Dodo Payments: that platform's own product id.
  • Mollie: the order line's sku, or its description when the line has no sku, exactly as you send it in lines[] on the payment.
  • Braintree: the plan id, since Braintree tracks subscriptions by plan rather than by individual product.

Manual entry of the id is available on every rail except Shopify, where you pick from the catalog instead. Product-name display is available everywhere except Dodo and Braintree, where only the id shows; give those a friendly label using the rate editor's name field.

What affiliates see

On Shopify-connected campaigns, the product search affiliates use to create product & page links shows a rate chip on each product: "Earns X%" highlighted on the products where you set a rate, and the campaign default rate muted on the rest (when your default commission is a percentage). Setting a higher rate on a product is how you steer affiliates toward it, and they see that incentive at the exact moment they pick what to promote.

The links your affiliates create are listed in the campaign's Performance tab, Links section, with each link's own clicks and sales. The same line-item data that powers product rates also feeds the affiliate-facing per-link sales stats and the top-products report, so both sides can see which products are actually driving sales.
